The rules

By playing on play.mcinfected.org or being in our Discord you agree to all of this. "I didn't know" has never worked as a defence and it won't here. These rules apply everywhere — in-game, in Discord, in voice, and in DMs with other members of this community.

01

Punishments are permanent records

Every ban and mute is attached to your account — not to a session, not to a season. Nothing is quietly wiped or forgiven later: a week's ban is a week served, whenever it lands. The server is live, and everything counts.

02

Permanent means permanent

A permanent ban is the end of your time here. There is no appeal process and no paid unban — no amount of money, apology or waiting reverses it, and we won't discuss it. Don't ask, don't have friends ask for you, and don't make an alt.

03

Staff decisions are final

Disagree with a punishment? Open a ticket and ask once, politely. That's the whole process. Arguing in chat, or complaining publicly about any punishment — yours or someone else's — is treated as toxicity and muted at staff discretion.

How punishments work

Strike system

Most rule-breaking is handled with strikes. They're attached to your account rather than a session, they do not expire, and they follow your account for good.

  1. Strike 1Warning, logged to your account
  2. Strike 2Warning + temporary mute or kick
  3. Strike 31 week ban
  4. Strike 42 week ban
  5. Strike 5Permanent ban

Chat offences run their own ladder before touching your strikes: 1 hour → 6 hours → 1 day → 3 days → 7 days → permanent mute. Severe chat offences skip it entirely.

Staff discretion is built into every rule here. The ladder is the normal path, not a guarantee — staff may escalate faster for repeat behaviour, for doing something blatantly and deliberately, or for being difficult about it afterwards. If you're looking for the exact line you can stand on without crossing, you've already misunderstood how this works.

Instant permanent ban

No strikes, no appeal

These end your account on the first offence. Staff don't need to warn you first, don't need to have caught you before, and don't need your agreement.

Cheating. Hacked clients, kill aura, reach, anti-knockback, fly, X-ray, freecam, ESP, radar — and as a principle, anything that helps you find, see, or track players beyond what vanilla shows you.
Soft cheats get one step of mercy. Autoclickers, macros, drag clicking, extreme CPS and freelook are a 1-week ban first offence, permanent on the second — see the clicking section below.
Hate speech. Slurs, racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, antisemitism, or targeting anyone for their race, gender, religion, nationality, orientation or disability.
Threats of violence, encouraging self-harm or suicide, or telling anyone to kill themselves. There is no joke version of this.
Doxxing. Sharing anyone's real name, address, school, workplace, socials, IP or photos — or threatening to.
Sexual content involving minors, in any form, including "jokes". Reported to Discord and to the authorities.
Ban evasion. Joining on an alt while banned makes the original ban permanent and bans the alt too.
Chargebacks and payment fraud. Reversing a store purchase after receiving it is theft. Permanent, and the rank is removed.
Attacks on the server. DDoS, crash exploits, login floods — or threatening any of them.
Distributing malware or IP-grabber links to our players.

Cheating, clients & clicking

Where the line is

We run 1.8-style combat, so fast clicking is part of the game. We'd rather you know exactly where the line is than guess at it.

Allowed

  • Butterfly and jitter clicking — at speeds a human hand actually produces
  • Performance mods: OptiFine, Sodium, Lunar, Badlion, LabyMod, Feather
  • Toggle sprint, FPS/ping displays, keystroke overlays, shaders
  • Cosmetic mods, custom crosshairs, HUD mods, damage tint removal

Soft cheats — 1-week ban, then permanent

  • Autoclickers and click macros — including a mouse button bound to send multiple clicks per press. "It's a mouse feature, not software" is not a defence.
  • Drag clicking — no longer allowed. Its click patterns are indistinguishable from machine clicking.
  • Extremely high sustained CPS — sustained ~20+ CPS is treated as machine clicking, whatever produces it.
  • Freelook / 360 perspective — camera mods that show you players your vanilla camera couldn't. Lunar and Badlion get it switched off automatically on join; a client that ignores the switch is deliberate.
  • Deliberate lag abuse — lag switching, throttling, or knowingly playing on a connection that breaks hit registration for others

Instant permanent

  • Entity or player radar. Anything showing where players are — this is a game about hiding and hunting.
  • Reach, kill aura, aim assist, triggerbot, velocity/anti-knockback, fly, no-fall, speed
  • X-ray, freecam, cave or entity ESP, chest finders
  • Schematica printer or any auto-build
  • The principle: anything that helps you find, see, or track players beyond vanilla is cheating.
Suspect someone? Don't accuse people publicly. Use /report <player> or open a ticket, and let staff look at it properly. Witch-hunting in chat is a strike even if you turn out to be right.

Playing the game honestly

Strike offences

The round is the whole product. Anything that makes rounds fake or miserable is a strike offence.

No combat logging. Quitting to dodge a death or an infection. Our system already records it as a death and infects you on rejoin — doing it deliberately and repeatedly is a rule break on top of that.
No stat padding by quitting early. Logging out in the seconds before you're about to be infected, to keep your survival stats clean, is cheating your stats. We can see it. Repeat offenders get their stats wiped and strikes.
No stat boosting or win-trading. Farming kills or infections with a friend, feeding an account, arranging outcomes, or using alts to inflate anyone's numbers. Every account involved is punished — including the one being boosted — and the stats are wiped.
No teaming across sides. Infected avoiding a friend, or a survivor feeding themselves to a specific zombie. Survivors working together is the game; survivors protecting a zombie is not.
Don't throw the round. Refusing to hunt as a Mother Zombie, deliberately dying at the start, or sabotaging your own side to grief people playing seriously.
No relogging to dodge Mother Zombie. Quitting when chosen so someone else gets picked. Already tracked automatically and issues exploit strikes.
No stalling or time-wasting. Hiding where the horde physically cannot reach you to run the clock down isn't surviving, it's wasting fifteen people's time. Kiting, outplaying and clever positioning are the game. Standing in an unreachable hole is not.
No AFK farming. Idling for cookies, playtime or crates. Defeating AFK detection with macros is treated as cheating.

Maps, bugs & exploits

Report, don't use
Don't go out of bounds. Outside the playable map, on top of it, under it, or inside terrain — by any means, including class abilities. Enderman pearls, Phantom swoop, Vex, Breeze leaps, Spider climbing, Slime bounces. If an ability gets you somewhere the map clearly isn't meant to go, come back and report the spot.
Don't abuse bugs or glitches. Found a way to duplicate items, earn cookies or tokens you didn't earn, become invincible, keep a kit, or break a round? Report it in a ticket. You'll be thanked, and sometimes rewarded. Use it instead and you'll be banned, and anything you gained is removed.
Don't hide a bug so you can keep using it. Telling only your friends about an exploit is the same offence as using it.
No spawn trapping. Camping a spawn to farm players who can't fight back.
Reporting an exploit properly: open a ticket with the map, the class, what you did, and a screenshot or clip if you have one. Never post working exploits in public channels where everyone can read them.

Accounts, store & economy

Money and trust
No selling, buying, trading or sharing accounts. Hand your account to someone else and you're responsible for everything they do on it — including the ban.
No real-money trading. Selling cookies, ranks, cosmetics or account services for real money, or trading them outside the store.
No scamming. Any deal you make with another player, you honour. Repeat scammers are removed permanently.
No begging staff or players for ranks, cookies, crates or free items.
Purchases are final. Ranks and cosmetics are digital goods delivered instantly. Refunds are at our discretion, and a refunded purchase means the rank is removed. Buying a rank does not buy leniency — donors are held to exactly the same rules, and a permanent ban does not come with a refund.

Chat & community conduct

All spaces
Be respectful. No harassment, bullying or targeting individuals.
Keep it clean. No NSFW, gore or shock content in chat, names, skins or images.
No spam — flooding, excessive caps, copypasta, repeated messages, or sound spam in voice.
No advertising other servers or Discords, and no self-promotion without staff permission.
No impersonation of staff, other players, or anyone else.
Keep public channels English so staff can moderate. Any language is fine in DMs.
No drama-mongering. Take conflicts to DMs or a ticket, not into public chat.
No backseat moderating. Report it and move on — it usually makes things worse.
No false reports. Wasting staff time with reports you know are fake is a strike.
Use channels for their purpose, and don't mass-ping, ghost-ping, or ping staff without a real reason.
You must be 13 or older to be here, per Discord's Terms of Service.
Trash talk vs. toxicity. Banter is fine — this is a PvP server and people are going to talk. The line is when it stops being about the game and starts being about the person: their family, their appearance, their intelligence, their mental health. If you're not sure which side of the line you're on, you're close enough to it to stop.

Staff & appeals

Final say

If you think a punishment was wrong

  • Open a ticket and state your case once, calmly
  • A different staff member will review it

What will make it worse

  • Arguing in chat — a mute at staff discretion
  • Complaining publicly about your punishment or anyone else's — toxicity, muted at staff discretion
  • Pinging staff repeatedly, DMing every staff member in turn, or getting friends to campaign for you

Permanent bans are not reviewed. Tickets appealing one are closed without discussion. There's no appeal, no timer, and nothing you can buy. That's deliberate — it's the only policy that actually deters the list above.

You'll also be punished for evading staff (running from, logging out on, or refusing to answer a staff member investigating you — logging out while frozen is an automatic ban), impersonating staff, lying to staff during an investigation, or harassing staff in-game or in DMs.

Staff are held to these rules too. If a staff member abuses their position, open a ticket addressed to the owner. It's taken seriously and investigated properly.
